One way to tell a true scrapbook addict from just a hobbyist is their collection of scrapbook magazines. With so many available to choose from, it’s no wonder our collections can grow so large! Just about any scarpbook magazine can be a great source for ideas and inspiration.

They are also a great way to learn how to scrapbook!

While I have sampled them all, my personal style is most reflected in Simple Scrapbooks Magazine.

Simple Scrapbooks Magazine, as the name implies, focuses on simpler pages and designs. This is not a magazine for those who like loads of embellishments and “bumpy” pages. They do use embellishments, but only to accentuate the beauty of your photos.

One thing I really like about their magazine is they have sketch challenges and show several different ways to use the same scrapbook sketch.

They are also beginning to incorporate more sizes of scrapbook pages. They have12 x 12 scrapbook pages, but they also have 8.5 x 11, 11 x 8.5, 8 x 8, 6 x 6 and more!

Simple Scrapbooks magazine also has different scrapbook album projects in each issue that show you how to make more unusual scrapbooks. In one issue, the editor shared how to take a simple photo album and turn it into a scrapbook in one weekend!

Now, when I want to really get inspired to do some show piece scrapbook pages, I open up my Scrapbooks Etc magazines. This magazine is put together by Better Homes and Gardens and is filled with very nice, but do-able scrapbook pages.

They tend to involve a bit more work than Simple Scrapbook pages, but the results are worth it. When you aren’t pressed for time and want to try out some more advanced techniques, turn to Scrapbooks Etc magazine for your inspiration!
